How to significantly increase your internet speed on Windows 7/8/8.1
How its made possible?
Windows 7/8/8.1 , by default limits your bandwidth usage to decrease internet data usage but, if the limit is removed you can get the actual speed of your internet connection on your Windows 7/8/8.1 PC. There is a group policy which puts limits on your internet connection but, you can remove that limit by tweaking the policy.
Follow the instructions below to increase your internet speed using Windows 7/8/8.1 :
Instructions:
First of all, check your current internet speed by going to ‘speedtest.net’. My internet speed was 0.78 Mbps down and 1.09 Mbps up with a ping time of 81ms .
Now, when you have checked your internet speed, let’s proceed to our tweak. Go to Search (Windows key + s - for windows 8/8.1) and type in following
gpedit.msc
You would be showed ‘gpedit’ in results. Press Enter.
Now ,
Step 1 - Open "Administrative Templates" .
Step 2 - Under That .. Select "Network" .
Step 3 - On The Right Panel , Select "QoS Packet Scheduler".
Step 3 - On The Right Panel , Select "QoS Packet Scheduler".
Step 4 - Then, Double Click On "Limit Reservable bandwidth".
Step 5 - By Default "Not Configured" is selected ... So Now select "Enable" .
Step 6 - TNow set "Bandwidth limit (%)" To "0 (Zero)".
Now, go to ‘speedtest.net’ again and check your internet speed. Your internet speed would have increased significantly. My download speed increased to 1.07 Mbps from 0.79 Mbps while the upload speed went a bit Up to 1.12 Mbps with a ping time of 19ms.
That’s all! Your internet speed has increased a bit.
